At Glittering Glass our main focuses are to create fresh, contemporary glass works whilst supporting others to experience the beautiful and sometimes magical qualities of kiln formed and stained glass.
Glittering Glass evolved after Glass Artist Katie Tucker graduated from The University of Sunderland and returned to Nottinghamshire. Katie designed a studio that gives space and equipment to allow her to create her personal works. It is here that Katie designs and creates her individually striking pieces.
Katie’s works are always stemmed with a strong conceptual contexts, often drawing inspiration from the environments that surround her. Themes such as; family relationships, seascapes and urban landscapes have all lead to bodies of work. Katie is also influenced strongly by colour and it’s relationship with glass and light. By infusing colour, light and form Katie ensures that her pieces are both visually stimulating and captivating.
At the Glittering Glass studio a variety of technical processes are used ranging from fusing and slumping to leaded panels. Katie combines the equipment in the studio, her knowledge and bright approach to teaching to provide a space for all levels to experience glass as a media. At Glittering Glass we firmly believe that with the correct support and encouragement the stunning qualities of glass can be of benefit to all. |
